What is FRIACO?
Flat Rate Internet Access Call Origination.
It means that we can now offer unmetered Internet access to you for a fixed monthly charge. This will allow you to use the Internet at a time that is convenient for you. ISPs will also pay fixed charges to Telecom Providers so we can pass on any savings directly to our subscribers. There are no hidden costs to access the web for you or for ISPs.

When will the service be available?
The service is now live and you can sign up here to ensure that you are amongst the first to take advantage of this new low cost service.

How much will it cost?
The service costs from £9.99 per month for access to the Internet at any time. There are no call charges and no other set-up fees.

Will the service be available all over the UK?
BT has upgraded its infrastructure to support FRIACO during the first quarter of 2001 and over 90% of the UK is now FRIACO enabled.

How will it benefit me?
You will get access to the Internet at any time of day or night in return for a small monthly fee. You will not be charged for calls so NO more high Internet telephone bills. Your subscription takes care of all connection charges. You will not need to worry about peak or off-peak times as this will make no difference. In short it is freedom to surf the web from just £6.49 per month.

Who can use the new service?
Anyone with a BT line can use the service.

How do I pay?
You can pay by Credit Card or by Debit Card. We will automatically set up a monthly debit for you.

Do I require any special software?
No. All software is standard and automatically downloaded when you sign-up online.

Do I require any special equipment?
No. If your PC is able to access the Internet now or if you have purchased a PC in the last three years, you have no need of any specialist equipment.

Will I have to change my current phone number, install a new line or put in a new phone dialler?
No. When connecting to the Internet your PC will automatically dial through to the relevant number to access the web completely 'toll-free'. There are no installations or new lines or new telephones to be put in and you can keep your current telephone number.

Can I stay connected all the time? Will you have a forced cut-off time?
This is not an 'always on' service and is not intended to support continuous or unattended Internet access. There is, therefore, a instigated 2 hour disconnection time on each call along with a 10-minute inactivity time setting. We continuously monitor our networks to ensure that congestion is not occurring. If usage is such that it is significantly affecting service to other users we will instigate congestion control measures. This is necessary to allow all subscribers access to the service. We reserve the right to terminate services if we find that your usage is constantly in excess of 200 hours a month on all Non-Twin and mycharity Lite packages.
